A Clean Slate

Funny how I can relate to that cartoon scene. Don’t we all wish that we can always start with a clean slate? To restart all fresh and new sounds very exciting doesn’t it? Today, is that day for me! I have finally enrolled in school again. And this time around, I have bigger and better inspirations to guide me through.

I unfortunately didn’t take college so seriously back then. It has been since 1991 that I winged every course that I surprisingly passed through. When I graduated high school in 1987 (yes, I am that old! Yikes!), going to college was not an option. I went and did all of it, but my head was truly not in the right place. I was more concerned about the whole social part of it than the actual classes. Sad, because that’s my only memory of college then – Which party to go to? Whose party to go to? When is the weekend coming? What?!- there’s an exam today? Uurgh…

Fast-forward ….not looking back (so don’t ask me about the past so I don’t gag anymore) but definitely learning from it, I am back at it again. I know this will be tough and it will be for the next few years. But now with my head screwed on correctly, with 3 kids and a husband routing for me, I am reaching for the skies and no less…

What would you wish to redo if you are given the chance to do correctly all over again?

good luck!! I keep thinking about going to college, I've never been period, but I just can't get up the guts to go.
maybe I'll look into night classes next year, like 2 a week or something. it may be best to just start small. I admire you for taking the jump!!

BTW - can't say I'd do anything over, I would never learn what I did wrong! :)

wish you all the best. I totally would have payed attention and not been so boy crazy . I wish I would have followed my dream to become a personal trainer. Just last week I took a CPR class and next month I am going for my fitness license. I wish that I had done this 10 years ago but I cant go back just forward!WHATEVER!!!

MJ, you have my utmost respect for deciding to go back to school! Up to now, my mom still asks if I plan on getting my masters and I just don't have the heart (or the drive) to do it. Anyway, if there was anything I could re-do, it would have been to continue studying piano. I stopped after a year, and everytime I see someone play a classical instrument I wish I did too.

I do not want any redo-s I really just want to be right here right now.

The future ... well I hope to get home soon :)

I'm struck with admiration for your efforts. This is absolutely the thing, or question rather, that most grates on me - When will I create the opportunity for me to go back to school? I really love to learn. Congratulations! Sign me up as a cheerleader!

Good luck with classes!

I breezed through college (not a good breezed-through-with-good grades but a bad didn't-pay-attention-graduated-by-the-skin-of-my-teeth) and wish I would have thought more seriously about my future. I'm grateful for the job I have now. It is what I had hoped to do...but there was always this nagging voice deep down and I now wish I had listened!

Congrats again!

Bossy went back to college at 35. She was one of those annoying types always sitting in the front row and getting As. She had to learn to resist to wipe the noses of the kids sitting next to her, but then it was smooth sailing.

Good luck.

One of my best memories of college is when I ran for the student council chairman seat. I was the favorite.

It was a landslide. A landslide loss for me, that is.

Have a great weekend.

I would redo high school. My senior year was such a waste. I wish I could go back and change everything.
