The Best In Blogher07

Share

First of all - Thanks to Yahoo for sponsoring me (and as well as to Jill Asher and co. for arranging it)to Blogher 07. I had a riot!

Some people live blogged, and some made interesting recaps-- but I'm going for the Joan Rivers style --- Welcome to my best of blogher07 list. The best of the best - well that is in my humble opinion. From best swags, business cards, best bloggers and best moments.
Can you imagine there are lots more than the ones listed below?

Who doesn't love this lap top bag? I'm sooo going to use it! Thanks Aol!

* A girl's dress from Wati. So adorable!

Books- Can't wait to read these 2 books! The cover alone on the I Was A Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids is so scrumptiously looking, and with that title I'm sure to be in stitches. I will be doing a review on this one in MomViews. The other book was The Essential Guide To Your Baby's First Year courtesy of Babycenter.com. I will definitely use this as a great reference for my infant.

PBS gave a DVD introduction of their new upcoming program called SuperWhy! So Cute and my boys loved it. And they also gave some stickers which can be placed into good use when the boys get bored AGAIN!

*My Baby Can Talk DVDs --- I am so excited to see if my 5 month will respond to these DVDS

Scrapblog gave out onesies in different colors. The back says " I'm famous in Scrapblog. It came in different colors too. Too cute!

PayPerPost gave this Giant Pen out and the following day I had to get another one because my boys just love it! I personally don't care about it -- but if it make my kids happy, then it will be up on top of my list! Do you see how that pen is even bigger than my daughter's whole arm? btw - isn't she cute? hehe

*Innobaby gave this Packin Smart Formula or Snack Dispenser. Can't wait to use it!

Kristen from Motherhood Uncensored handed me these funny swags/business card. I was going to list it as one of my top business cards but she called them swag so swag it is. They are condoms withe packaging imprinted with her blog url -smart eh? I had to grab it away from my son before he was about to lick it! hehe.

I received soooo many, but here are my top 3

Genie Alisa of message.inabottle.org gets my vote (as well as my kid's) on the best card design I received. The cutout bottle was of course what made it so different frommany others. Btw, the genie herself took a picture of Darlene Chao (Project Runway winner) and I. Thanks Alisa! Hello to my hometown in Virginia! See, I didn't forget.

This headturner business card is from Sassafrass. She is a co-writer/blogger of mine at ChicagoMomsBlog. How can I not pick this one - that picture is too cute!

This one of course is also a winner. Oh wait, this is mine! Ok so I'm biased. And this is my blog, and my list - I can vote in whatever I want ! But did you notice how my card matches my blog? Is that adorable or what? hehe...

Ok, my biggest moment is winning this beautiful leather Coach bag from Hakia ( a new search engine ) Thank you Hakia! They even wrote about my win at their site -- read here!

- Then I also got interviewed by NPR about being in the blogher conference, and as well as a Mommy blogger. I have yet to search as to where I may be able to get a copy of it. I will keep you guys posted.

- Oh, and the cheesecakes that were served on Day 2 was just divine!

NOT SO GREAT MOMENT

- Did you hear all the moo-ing in the bathrooms? If you heard it --- just so you know that that was me. I was milking -- er I mean expressing out my milk because I was engorged and in pain and just about to die since my 5 month old is not there to be nursed. Ouuch! Liquid gold down the porcelain made this Mommy so guilty.

A shout out to all the Chicago Moms and Silicon Valley Moms that I had the pleasure to party with. I say we are the Creme de la creme! Hey, again-- this is my blog and I am biased.

Special thanks to my buddy Amy of Hailey Bug Picnic and Mums The Wurd for letting my soles feel extra comfortable in her back-up slip-ons.

A fond thanks to my FilipinaMoms.com friend Sheila aka Xiaolin Mama. Thank you for the company, dinner, and the Turkish Yakut wine toast to friendship. I shall visit you next out in the west.

And I don't want to forget and give a shout out to my newly met friends from Kimchi Mamas. Stefania and Carol -- it was awesome meeting you both!

And now before I sign off....here are the links to the fabulous bloggers I had the pleasure of meeting at blogher o7. Not in particular order.

I'm exhausted after all this... don't forget to vist the upcoming launch of Mom Views!

In The Mean Time...

To those I have met at the convention --- It was truly a pleasure meeting all of you!

Blogher 07 in Chicago has just finished and I am uber tired from all the excitement. So much to write about but gotta tend to the 3 kiddos I’ve missed this last 3 days and so my recaps won’t be posted until hopefully tomorrow.

In the meantime, visit my new to-be launched Mommy review site called Mom Views - Parent approved and Kid tested products you can trust. Great contest prize coming soon!

Also – after meeting probably atleast a hundred new blogger friends, only about 3-4 knows that the title to my blog was a song from Nina Simone which I wrote about as my blog premise. So I thought I’d let you guys listen and hopefully sing the little song with me – karaoke style below (although parts of the lyrics are wrong).

Til next week…Rest and rejuvenate my blogger friends!

Blogher07 Conference with Elizabeth Edwards

Share
Ok, I'm not a political writer/blogger or even close to knowing whom I'd like to see in office. But anyway -- I am live blogging here at Blogher07 conference and Elizabeth Edwards is here being interviewed and talking to us bloggers and right before it started, someone from the Hillary Clinton campaign office was going around handing out material and Women for Hillary button.

Is it just me who thinks this is done in bad taste? I mean really - I just think that this is blatantly disrespectful.

Something I'm Looking Forward To

BlogHer '07 I'm<br />Going

Woohooo! It is official - I am going to the blogher convention! Thanks to Yahoo and Chicago Moms Blog, a couple of us gals are sponsored to go. How cool is that?! Yahoo is even sponsoring the contributing writers of Chicago Moms Blog for a night of food, drinks, and fun. I will sure to post pictures here. I can't wait to meet certain people like Bokumbop, Cool Chick, and Mamazilla - amongst many others that I find so fascinating.

Any of you guys going too? Let me know, because I would love to meet-up with all my blogging sistahs!

My Dear Hair

Share

Maybe it is just me, but every time around 4-6 months postpartum I slowly shed the beautiful and luscious mane I normally benefit from each pregnancies. Well -- it is that time again. It is that time that when I comb, shampoo, rinse or even simply just run my fingers through my hair I always end up with clumps of hair in my hand. It is that time that I second look at myself in the mirror to see if that wad of hair resulted in a bald spot. It is that time to bid adieu to the only thing that has kept me feeling at least a bit attractive as I waddled my way through until the end of the pregnancy. And to ease the pain of this gradual loss, I would like to write a letter to my hair.

Dear Beautiful and Luscious Hair,

Do you know how much you will be missed? Do you know how much it meant to me that you kept me looking descent on those many days I was feeling ill from being knocked up? I actually took many fabulous pictures of you, even colored and styled you like never before. Heck, I even convinced my husband to take a professional picture with the whole family and thank goodness he went along. Your memory will now be immortalized on the new frames that will don my family room wall. And in there, I can look at you everyday and say – damn, you looked awesome in those pictures.

Actually, I truly didn’t expect you to stay around. I knew that around this time you are leaving me. I just hope that you had enjoyed your stay and know that you were treated very well. And with that in mind – I thought it would be ok to ask you a big favor.

Would it be too much to ask if you take some fat with you on your way out? Only then I can truly feel ok and finally move on.

Hoping,
MJ aka Sugarmama

How ironic is it that the one you want is so hard to keep, and the one you don’t want is so hard to lose.

Today we received mail from Cookie (a parenting magazine) soliciting for subscribers, and in it came along some very colorful alphabet stickers. In the label it says, "These cookie stickers are our free gift to you. Enjoy!". As you can see below --- my boy did enjoy them just as suggested. He enjoyed placing the stickers on his napping 4-year-old brother's face.

Thank you Cookie magazine for making my silly 7-year-old giggle to no end.
