My Cup Runneth Over

11 spoonful of sugar (comments)

Hello all! I’m back home with our new pride and joy that used to squirm inside me now in my arms squirming the same way. That never ceases to amaze me every single time I deliver each one of my babies. However - although the labor went along well, my body didn’t do as well right after delivering my little girl. I will blog more about it later on. I’m still recuperating and I don’t have much time but rest and take care of my newborn as well as my boys. The only thing I can produce right now is breast milk anyway…and my brain is even soggy from it all. So although I know I have this little contest here, I would just like to take a little more time away from the computer and get healthy. I should hopefully be back on by next week. Thanks for all those that played my little contest. I should announce this next week as well. Just scroll down one more posting to join the contest if you haven't done so already.

Also, Dawn – thanks for that funny posting. That really cracked me up. I will just move it down under the contest so more people will get more chance to enter.

In the meantime – I leave you all a new picture of our newest member of the family Katie, and with her 2 older brothers. My husband and I are beaming with joy.

Labor is work you know! ---- Hallelujah! Finally!

I've gone through this 2x already, so I'm not panicking at all. Actually I'm waiting for my husband to get ready so we can hop on all along.

I had prepared this contest and thought it would be fun to do one here while I'm gone. And of course it'll be something to entertain myself with when i get back from the hospital. Not just the normal when, how long, and how heavy the baby (well those too, but here are more questions - so go ahead and leave answers in the comments: The one with the most correct answers wins, and if there is a tie...then I'm judging by bribe... hehe...I mean wittiness, silliness, or whatever else than can make my first few days back home a little on the lighter side by making me laugh.

- Vaginal or Caesarian ?
- Epidural or Natural?
- Girl or Boy? (this should be a given)
- Length of Labor?
- Male or Female Doctor?
- Will the baby be in-room or at the nursery at night?
- Will husband cut the cord?
- Does baby have hair?
- Time baby is born
- Date baby is born
- Baby's Length
- Baby's Weight

The prize:
oooooooh.........what else A VIBE !!! I am still up to my neck with inventory- and this is just another fun way for me to get rid of it... hehe

A Rabbit Vibe with rotating beads! The famous Sex And The City vibrator. All yours by taking the time to play my dull game so I can indulge myself reading when I get back from the hospital.

Also - click here so you can read more about it and hopefully entice to play my game.

Here are some facts that may help you with your answers:

-Actual due date for this pregnancy is Feb. 14th.

-I have had 2 boys now 6 and 3 years old.

- My 1st born was delivered vaginally, and my 2nd one was C-section because of cord-prolapse. However my doctor did say that there are no reasons whatsoever for us to try vaginally again. Unless anything else happens.

- 1st born, 3 hours labor - 2nd one - none because it was an emergency C-section.

- 1st born, was a male doctor that delivered my baby, and the second one was a female.

- 1st born, was in-room the whole time, the 2nd one was all at the nursery because I was drugged out with pre-eclampsia IV even after I delivered the baby.

- 1st born, hubby was too afraid to cut the cord, 2nd one he wasn't given a choice because of the emergency C-section.

-1st one born at 6 am, 2nd one at 8pm.

-1st one was longer than my second one. I forgot what it was, but somewhere around 21 inches on my first one.

- 1st one was 7 lbs. 12 oz. delivered at exactly 40 weeks, and the second one at 6 lbs. 3 oz. delivered at 37 weeks.

Hope that helps and Good Luck everyone!

Its not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me,
oh no Its just the nearness of you.
It isnt your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation,
oh no Its just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms and I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me the right To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night the nearness of you

Thank you for always filling the sugar in my bowl, keeping the steam in my clothes, and forever adding sweetness into my soul. You are my love...my life...

A Pig Is Coming!? I Mean A Baby!

15 spoonful of sugar (comments)

Quick, announce the media! I am finally dilated at 2 cm and 50% effaced. Woohoo! Actually now I’m worried because both my boys are sick. But I’m tired of worrying and decided to take things as it comes. I can only do so much preparation. So if she comes now, then she comes. Well my doctor said that if I am still pregnant by my next week’s appointment on Wednesday (Feb. 14th – my actual due date) then we should start talking about getting induced. So we shall see.

Anyway, another big thing coming around is Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. This Chinese year 4705 begins on Feb. 18, 2007 and it is the Year of The Pig. Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal's year would have some of that animal's personality. Those born in pig years tend to have excellent manners, make and keep friends, work very hard, and appreciate luxury. They are very loving and make loyal partners.

But this year is not just an ordinary pig’s year. Actually this is the year of the GOLDEN PIG. This is something that my husband and I just heard of last week. According to Chinese folklores, this event only comes every 600 years of the Lunar Calendar. Running alongside the 12 year animal cycle is another 10 year animal cycle that consists of the five elements of traditional Chinese philosophy: wood, fire, earth, gold, and water. Babies born in the ‘year of the golden pig’ are believed to have good fortune and will lead a comfortable and wealthy life.

The funny part is that apparently everyone in Asia is racing to get married and get pregnant this year. It’s a big Asian Baby Boom! And for those that are already pregnant, they are making sure to hold on to the baby until the 18th of Feb. Now since my doctor and I will be talking about inducing on the 14th, is it even really possible for me to suggest and wait for another 4 days? I know it is silly and I don’t even really believe in this stuff. But it is so close to the date that I kind of want to, and what’s wrong with getting more luck in your side? But last week when we didn’t know about this entire golden pig hype thing – it didn’t even matter. Stupid me!

OK – let’s put things in perspective. The last time I was told a Chinese good luck date was when I got engaged in 1994 and my Mother In Law was quick to check out her Chinese Lunar Calendar and announced that Sept. 24th 1994 is the “good luck” date to get married. My husband, then fiancĂ©e, and I booked the church and Chinese banquet restaurant right away and we were so excited. Well, 2 really BAD things came out of that:

1 ---In the midst of planning months away from the wedding, the banquet restaurant decided to close. We freaked out because we cannot find any other Chinese banquet restaurant that will gladly take us on that date. To make the long story short, we ended up moving the date to October 15th and found a banquet restaurant, and got the Church to squeeze as in.

2 ---Also on the actual day of September 24th, my husband and I specifically remembered that it was pouring rain and thunderstorm under a black sky at noon that continued throughout the afternoon and night!

So now, I say to myself --- Heck no – it doesn’t matter if this baby is born on a supposedly “good luck year” – Having her on any day of her choice is our “good luck date”! No matter what animal she will represent. I don’t need a Lunar Calendar to tell me so. After all, if I remember - they turn more into monsters anyway. hehe

Oh yeah - Happy Birthday to my husband! As I always say, "I'm so lucky to have a wonderful partner for the last 13 years (19 altogether!!!) - and I love you babe! It still feels like it has only been 3 years"

--------------------------------------

- By the way, I'm going to have a baby contest before I leave for labor (just so I can entertain myself when I get back home)...and the prize --- A Rabbit Vibe "The famous Sex and The City toy" !!!!! oooohlala! So you don't wanna miss out on that one. It'll be fun.

- For those who are still interested with the 50% sale, I have made a separate "How To Order" page. Go and Visit http://sugarsale.blogspot.com

- And since I still have tons of inventory left, I will be giving out more free products for more referrals. It'll probably be after I deliver this baby, so check on that as well.

Just For A Little Bit Longer

Brrrrrrrr…it is definitely cold out there! The bone chilling –30 arctic wind chills for the 4th day in a row calls out for a complete hibernation. And with the whole city of Chicago in mourning after the Bear’s loss - it got even more unbearable. That’s the part that sucks the most when your own city is in the loser side because you get to witness a citywide self-pity. I am not even a Bears fan, but it is so easy to get sucked in to the whole “party mood” and even expect and look forward to the people doing their victory dances around you. My poor boys’ hopes in getting their class parties donned with Bears Superbowl victories will now be non-existent.

Actually, all that doesn't really matter right now. My 6 year old couldn’t care less if the Bears lose or not, or whether the rest of the city freezes – that’s because he came down with a flu. Poor Baby! His 104 temps kept him tucked in bed while my husband and I worried about him and as well as making sure that the rest of us does not catch it. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that my 3 year old will manage not to catch it.

Since last week I've been praying to hopefully finally go into labor. But now I’m thankful that she’s still inside being kept comfortable and healthy. I am quite afraid of bringing her out in the world when it is this frigidly cold and with all the viruses wafting in the air inside our home right now. But I suppose there isn’t much we can do if in case she decides to finally bust out. So either way, we would have to be prepared.

Well baby preparation started since we found out that we are expecting our third child. We are as ready as we can be at this point in time. Pregnancy also always gave me an inspiration to create something new for the baby with my own hands. With my first child, I got really crafty and made my own fabric photo albums, and even extended and honed my creative talents in using my computer for designing invitations, notecards, etc. It eventually lead to many other things like making my sister-in-law’s wedding stuff like I did here as well as many of my friends and family event needs.

With my second child, I got more intense with learning more computer stuff and even learned some basic html and learned many other applications on my own. It's really not a lot, but enough to get me through basic stuff. At the same time, I got inspired to make many other things with fabric for the baby that lead me to do stuff like I did here.

Now with this pregnancy, I decided to go further and tried to make real baby clothings. As soon as we found out that the little bean is a girl, I was given a wider variety of designs in my head. I even made my own baby clothing patterns and happily slaved away with the sewing machine my sister-in-law bought me years ago. I made pajama sets, dresses, and even beddings. I got busy and I had so much fun. Check out the 2 kimono style items I made for her. I can't say that the quality is there and how much wear will it take, but overall I liked how it turned out visually.

This one is made out of fleece and so I know she will definitely be warm in it. I was afraid that the ribbon I had sewn by hand was not going to stay after being laundered, but it actually survived it.

This next one is sewn with a flannel material (love the print on this one!). I added the blue ribbon to enhance -- err I mean actually cover up the amateur sewing stitches and it worked like a charm...hehe!If she succesfully wear it even just for the sake of home photo shoots without tearing it up, then that was worth all the hard work for me. Now I can atleast cross it out on my "want to try to learn how to do" list.

Warm In Chicago

14 spoonful of sugar (comments)

Actually it is 8F degrees here in Chicago and the bitter arctic air brings it to a negative wind chill. And even worse - this weekend is supposedly around -30F degrees in wind chill, and will also continue until next week. But I'm still feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. That's because I am so gratefully appreciative to all my blogger friends that had nice comments to say about my decision in closing a thriving business. And even more so, to those who had helped out in linking my blog from theirs so I can make this business closing as easy as possible. It really feels great to be loved! Thank you, Thank you !!! Thank You to those that left sweet comments, Thank You to those that ordered, and Thank You to all those that linked (so I'm linking you guys here today). You guys rock!
