In Memoriam

My Godson Mark Ryan Caguioa was injured in Iraq a few weeks ago, and because of extensive injuries he passed away this past Thursday May 24th. I’m still numb and in disbelief since I found out on Sunday morning. His Mother; Lulay (my childhood bestfriend), called me on Sunday and I still have the same chill on my spine when she said that he has passed on. I wept in silence, but I wish I had more comforting words to say to her– but at that very moment I don’t have any. What comfort can I really offer to a grieving Mom who has just lost her firstborn?

This Friday my husband, kids, and I will be flying to San Francisco. Mark Ryan Caguioa will be laid to rest this Saturday at the SF National Cemetery Presidio. Mark you will be terribly missed!

MJ, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
God bless your family and your dear friends family.

God bless Mark for serving our country and keeping us safe.
My condolences to you and the rest of his family. How awful, especially since yesterday was Memorial Day, and all most people remembered was to grill hot dogs.

So sorry for your loss.
This is so touching. (I tried to comment about this on the Chicago Moms blog, too, but it wasn't working.) I don't know just what to say... I am thinking of you at this time.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your dear friend.

Parents aren't supposed to bury their children and I can't even begin to fathom the pain she must be going through.

God be with you both.

What a terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend's family.

What an awesome support you will be to Lulay in this time. Your godson will be remembered for being brave and fighting for our freedom...I'm thankful for his service, and I'm sad that he paid for OUR freedom with HIS life...but I'm so grateful for all of our military for their commitment.
I'm so sorry. What an awful tragedy.

Wow.. im so sorry to hear this...my heart goes out to anyone who ever looses a family member... especially a child... or a spouse...

My friend lost her husband when he was 24... and she was 21 or 22. She had a 4 month old daughter.. who he never even got the chance to hold..

THankfully through the Lords grace shes doing great right now... raising her beautiful daughter... and growing closer to the Lord.

It's been months since I've last visited you, and to finally come back and see that you and your best friend (as well as her family) have suffered this tragic loss leaves me speechless. Your post brought me to tears as I said a silent prayer for all those serving. My own army cousin has been back safely for months now, but I always dread the day he gets those orders for yet another tour in that awful world.

I know that there will never be a day to get over your loss, but I hope that somehow in each other you and Lulay have found a way to be comforted.

*hugs to you*
