Oohlala - A Vibe Contest!

I can't remember when was the last time my husband and I had made love out of a whim. "Gettin' sumthin' sumthin' " needs scheduling nowadays because of the kids and work...etc...etc... This used to bother to me so much at first, but the more I talk to other parents, we always end up laughing about how, when, and where are some of these 15 minute rendezvous (no longer called quickies) are done.

A couple of years ago, a girlfriend was telling me about her 4 year old playing in their bedroom and them wanting play some coochie-coochie at that moment. Her hubby started telling the little boy that it has gotten late, and he needs to stop banging the wall with his toys and go to his room and sleep. The little boy flatly refused and said "no". They both tried to coax the little boy to go back to his room but he still won't budge. Then her husband finally lost it and shouted at his son. The little boy started crying and said that it was unfair that whenever he get sent to his room at night, all he hear are wall banging noises because Daddy and Mommy gets to play at night and he can't sleep! Apparently, the headboard needed to be moved away from the wall. haha

I love hearing funny stories like this, so I thought I'd do a contest about it. --- Post a comment here about your funniest struggle in trying to get your kiddies out of the way for some little afternoon delights or midnight snacks (whichever the case may be). *The prize is a Gyrator - Waterproof Vibe or an O'Gee - Gspot Vibe courtesy of IntimatePursuits.com and must comply to some **simple rules. And yes, they are both pretty quiet...but you may need to get the headboard away from the wall. The winner will be announced by Tuesday April 4th in the afternoon. I of course will be the sole judge to this contest. Good Luck!

* Sorry, but I will only send to Continental US for this contest.

My Ladies - 6 girls and a gay guy

What a weekend! For the past month I couldn't wait for this past weekend to come. I finally got to get away with my girlfriends for a little r&r in honor of our good friend Gigi who is getting married this upcoming May.

It was a surprise party for Gigi and although the planning has had many changes all the way to the last hours, the get-together was a success. Not only did it turn out to be just for Gigi, but the weekend turned out to be a celebration of friends and friendships. I needed this reaffirmation so badly, and it has renewed my profound love for this group of people.

Time and time again we have gone through major life changes. Some were bitter trials, and some were triumphant moments...and every single one of them I have shared with these ladies (some in their physical presence and some thru loving phone calls).

I can't possibly imagine having to grow old without them because I want them there to admire how my brown-colored orthopedic shoes compliment my nude-colored knee-highs. I have plans in comparing denture paste while guffawing over the comedy of it. And I have hopes in a couple of walking cane duels just to have the obligatory kiss and make-up over and over again. It will be too unfair if we all don't get to be there together for the next 20-30-40-50 years. I mean how could a senior discount at our nearby breakfast diner be so fun without having to be there for each other?...

This coming weekend our girlfriend Cecilia will undergo surgery. Nothing to worry about is what she said, and I can't help but do -- just that.

Mommy Couture

Eons ago I was once described as well dressed. The right outfit that gives out a successful look, the shoes that gives me the height for the feel of power, and the right accesories for a complete finish. Well eons ago, I didn't have to worry and think of what I need to wear.

It's been about 7 years now since I left the Fashion Industry. 7 years ago since I stepped in the plane by myself to fly to our NY showroom and check out the newest in the market. 7 years ago since I know what goes with what. I used to receive clothing allowance and if I needed to spend my own money to shop then I only pay a small fraction of the price. And now I have to dig in my own pocket to buy something to wear and I am quite lost. "Welcome to the real world!" is what I heard from a girlfriend I was complaining to. I say she's quite bitter don't you think? (sarcasm there).

Now I buy magazines to see what outfits are out there, but all I keep saying is "holy shit, who can afford these stuff?". The pair of pants I would like to have is $ 395, shoes $520, $ purse 210. I'm over $1000 already and yet I would have to walk around topless! Not to mention that I have to splurge another $20,000 on having all the fat sucked out of me. Maybe I should nominate myself in "What Not TO Wear", "10 Years Younger", "Trading Spaces", and "Extreme Makeover". That will give me a couple of thousands to look hip, and feel hip again. Ok, back to the real world...

7 years ago I got pregnant with my firstborn. Left NY job, and since then, It's been 7 years that I've been wearing Old Navy - Mommy Couture Land. Good Old Navy whom I used to bash so much when I first started shopping there. Materials are cheap, accesories are cheap, shoes are atrocious! My whole world is now a knock-off! Oh the drama! (I'm bitter can't you tell!)

Mommy Couture isn't so bad, especially when you have more $ left to spend buying Chuck E. Cheese tokens. Which reminds me - Old Navy should be sending me my 20% coupon for Spring clothes! Oh gosh I'm sooooo excited! (no sarcasm this time) :-)

Tarzan, HELP!

Have you guys ever seen those hanging monkeys before? It's just about everywhere, but if you haven't, then I suggest you come over to my jungle of a house.

2 days ago -- as our Pediatrician had suspected and ordered for an xray, Matthew (my 2 yr. old) turned out to have Pneumonia. So now that explains his non-stop high fevers. We were sent home with an Augmentin prescription and if his fever and aches and pains worsen after 2 days then he will be admitted in the hospital. Poor baby!

Because he is just feeling so sick, we have been inseparable. His only comfort is being hugged and carried all day. It would've been okay if I was feeling ok, but I too has been under the weather. Taking a pee break is even hard because I literally have to pry him away from me, and that's a task that takes Mama Monkey to ask for help from Tarzan (my hubby, hehe). We are stuck together with a strong velcro that takes a monumental body wringling movement to unstuck his clingy limbs off me.

The good news is he seems to have been better after two days. Thanks for Augmentin! For the first time in a few days he's left me alone for about 30 minutes. I feel so free, and now I don't know what to do with myself! hehe

It's A Family Affair!

This past Saturday it was a sunny 60 degree day, and by the following day it got cold and windy at 40 degrees. brrrr...Infact today alone, it was a beautiful and sunny morning that got up to 65 degrees, and by 3 pm it was down to 40s and now at 35 degrees as I post here.

The weather has teased us enough. This annual event comes and goes every year but it has the same effect on us every single time. We get sick. Early last week, Christian ;my kindergartener, started the fashion trend of Vicks Vaporub at night to ease his coughing. By thursday, my 2 year old decided to copy his idol (big bro) and sneezed as the other one sneezed, coughed when the other one coughed. And gradually upgraded to a low grade fever for both of them. I was surprise how much easier this event had turned out - not much crying, or complaining, but they were both quite easy to deal with which is somewhat unusual when you have 2 sick children.

When I thought that things has gone smoothly, last night was just awful. Matthew,my 2 year old woke up at 3 am complaining of aches and pains and sure enough he has a fever again. But this time it is reaching a 102. I was very concerned because he has had ongoing/offgoing fever since Thursday that was somewhat low grade, and for it to shoot up like this after a couple of days made me worry. Naturally, we didn't sleep and as early as I can call the Pediatrician's office we were there for him to be checked.

As I thought, his Pediatrician was a little concerned as well. He will now be sent for an x-ray by tomorrow to see if he has pneumonia. I hope not. Poor baby! Poor Mama!

When we got home from the doctor, I took him to nap with me and sure enough I woke up feeling lousy myself. Now we all have a fever! Well not quite. William is the next one in line, then it will truly be another family affair.

I foresee many more days of sleepless nights, and it just suck when I have to be sick at the same time... :-(

Circus Master

My list of things to do :

- Call Clown

- Count # of balloons needed

- Husband suggested cotton candy machine?

- Buy Prizes for Games

Doesn't this sound like I'm running a circus? Well actually I am. My 2 boys are both having April birthdays which is NOT an easy task. This is one big reason why I didn't want to have my kids born the same month but unfortunately, my second baby had the audacity to come out a few weeks early just to irk me. I'm not only the Circus Master, I also happen to be the juggling act and the balancing trapeze girl. Is it too much to ask for better and bigger applause?

My 2 year old Matisse?

I couldn't help but post this one. Matthew and his self-portrait done in black crayon has an incredible likeness don't you think? Well atleast this Mommy thinks so. hehe
